Kal: Yday//Tom

Women have championed movements for justice, liberation, and representation for decades, globally. This photograph is of a female-led demonstration from Lahore, 1983 with the Urdu word "kal" written as an overlay. In Urdu, the word 'kal' translates ironically, to the words "tomorrow" and "yesterday" within context. A symbol with a message so inherent, we (women) aren't just the future, but we were also the past.

Transcribed from Urdu script:

Kal ('Yesterday' or 'Tomorrow')
